VINEYARDS

The place with exceptional terroir and climatic condition is a birthplace of Azerbaijan’s one of the most unique wines.

The vineyards are located in the Savalan valley on a kind of peninsula, which is protected from dry winds by the mountains of the Greater Caucasus and is surrounded on both sides by the river Turyanchay. Over time, the river left behind layers of sand, fine gravel and clay, which intermingled with earlier calcareous rocks and led to the creation of a wide variety of terroirs. Of the existing 11 climatic zones, 9 exist in Azerbaijan, 4 of which are present in the Gabala region, being one of the unique characteristic features of the Gabala climate. At 400 m above sea level, there is an ideal balance of rainfall, sunny days, and average annual temperatures. The place is blessed, almost identical to southern Italy. Therefore, the founders of the winery turned to Italian companies to study the terroirs and select a range of varieties.
